Killaloe is situated on the banks of the River Shannon, and best known as the birthplace of Brian Boru (c. 941 - 1014), and High King of Ireland (1002 - 1014). While Brian was High King, he ruled from Killaloe making it the "Capital of Ireland."        

The twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina are two authentique villages linked by a 13 arch bridge. This bridges links also two counties :  Clare and Tipperary.


 

Away from the main roads and highways , you will find Lough Derg , a unique treasure for those in pursuit of pleasure in an idyllic natural setting.

On land, you can still find other fantastic activities: horseback riding and long walks . And as usual in Ireland , you go from sun to rain in less than an hour, so nothing prevents you from completing your afternoon in front of a good cappuccino and newspapers, many Coffee Shops will welcome you .
